Its over. Sad...
Hehe I never ever thought in a million years that I will sign up for something like this. It was announced in church months before and it caught my attention but I never took action. Then during Couz in August, it came up again. Must be a sign from above aye?
I hesitated at first because AS exams were coming up and I was afraid that I had no time to train. But I signed up anyway, and yes, I did train before the big run. Four times! haha
Run For The Nation is a national event. Christians from KL, Kuching, Malacca, Penang, KK, JB, Terengganu and so on took part in their respective cities. To sum it up, it is a prayer run, one team with three runners, one prayer card (or a few, we got 5), 5km each.
PENANG!! Badaq, Jon and Su Ee were suppose to run in Penang. But due to I dunno what, they never got registered, and did not run. I was actually excited that Badaq was running as well. Sort of like running with her, but not exactly with her. Owhwellthatslife T.T
Not everyone ran at the same time and at the same location. There were over hundreds of participants from all across the nation, I think it was a thousand over or so. So they assigned routes and time for each team. For example, while my team and I ran from Mont Kiara at 9, at the same time Andrew's team ran at Old Klang road. All in all, 1080km of the Klang valley was covered! And this is just in KL alone! Think of the distance covered in the other cities!
While most of us ran 5km, there were a few hard core runners that ran 35km! Simon from my team ran about 10km. He also ran with a few people during the 5am slot because it was dark and it was safer for the runners if he ran with them as well. I think they were all female runners. Owh chivalry :)
The main aim of Run for the Nation is to pray for the nation. Instead of having a prayer walk, we ran so that more ground can be covered. This event has been around for years, and next year, it is going to be on a big scale!
RunNat was, fun! I want to do it again :)
It felt good to be running with the others as we pray for our nation. By the way, praying while running at the same time is doable, but kind of hard. So when we prayed, we walked, then continued running.
Owh by the way, I am from Team 7 of AG18. Presenting Team 7!!

Melody :)

Me and Shin Yi

Joshua our Team manager!!!

Breakfast in Choy Kee before the run
Lolz our slot was suppose to be at 5am, but somehow we got the 9am slot. No complains :D
We ran from Mont Kiara (Sime Darby) to SS17's Shell Station. Our route was cut short because the runners from the earlier slots were running late, literally. So in order to ensure we all finish in time for prayer meeting, they shortened our route by a bit. Again, NO COMPLAINS :D because it meant that we did not have to run UP HILL!! hahahaha
And another thing to be grateful for was the weather! NO SUN!! Haha and it drizzled abit, but it stopped and the weather did not hinder our run.
The run itself was not tiring. Powered by the holy spirit!! Lolz
I guess it was also because we also walked along the route. DO NOT GIVE ME THAT LOOK. I know that its a prayer RUN, not prayer WALK! Lolz we were running against traffic along the highway with no pavements la. So we ran on the road, the grass, the rocks, jump over a drain, climbed down the stairs, run up the flyover at SIB KL. Of course at a certain point you gotta walk too right?
Nevertheless, it was fun :) While the three of us ran together with three other people, Joshua drove to the station and waited for us there. The perk of being the team manager. Higher calling. Indeed it was Josh :p
After our run, (yes we managed to complete it in one piece!!) we headed over to PJEFC and waited for everyone else to finish running the good race and for prayer meeting to start. Before we started, there were loads of Twitter updates by the other cities on the progress of RunNat in their locations.

PJEFC
Malaysians were not the only one who participated in this event. There were a few African runners, and to my utter surprise, Mr Peter (the 1.5 years math lecturer in KDU) was one of them!
After the meeting, we headed to the parking lot at the basement for lunch and ice-cream :D

Ice-cream on a hot hot day! Quan Hziung and I had seconds. Oops hehe

Some of the runners from SIB KL

They were told that they look like siblings hehehe

Team 7!

Team I-dunno-what-number. Joe-MIA, James, Andrew and manager Quan Hziung.
All in all, it was a good experience. Not just because it pushed me to exercise and run (owh by the way I am into running now, sort of), or gave me a certificate of participation that might be able to help boost my chance and win favour in the eyes of the American universities. It was because I truly believe that as we ran and prayed for the land, God heard our prayers and will change the nation of Malaysia, for the better of course.
If you think that it is impossible to change Malaysia, you are wrong. We have a God that can do wonders here remember? Hehe
Yes, I really do thank God for giving me the chance to be part of something like this. I do not believe that it was a coincidence that I was part of this. Thank You for protection as we ran :)
I would definitely love to join RunNat 2010 next year, even though it is during my A2.
OMG A2......... Haha who cares :p
Run for the Nation! Its worth the sweat :)
