Tornadoes

Believe it or not, it is the funny word of the week.

Sherene and Daniel having a casual conversation about universities of Dan's interest in New Zealand

Sherene : So nice.... All the places that I am going to got tornadoes :(

Daniel : Hahahahahaha

-_-"

Sherene and Suzie talking about applying for universities in Australia

Suzie: I got 8 choices to make.. bla bla bla

Sherene : Owh.. all the places that I can go got tornadoes....

Suzie : Hahahahahhaha

Sherene : Suzie!!! What is so funny.... why you laugh??

Suzie : I am just trying to imagine Sherene after a tornado. Her hair all so messy (laughs even more)

-_-"

Sherene talking to her junior, Rashid, about universities in Canada and USA

Sherene : I am going to USA. All the places I am going to have tornadoes...

Rashid : Hahahhahaha

Sherene : Whaaaaaattt why everytime I say that people will laugh one?!?

-_-"

Dear Lord please save me from this....

Even Ms Santha laughed when I expressed my concern about tornadoes.

Apparently they find it funny because all this while, we have been sheltered and safe from all sorts of natural disasters. And all of a sudden, I will be exposed to tornadoes...

But Suzie's responce was the cutest so far. She ended up talking about my hair instead of my safety.........

I feel so secure knowing that the welfare of my hair is within my friend's interest. Lolz

Other random updates:

Today was the first day of TOEFL class. Ms Santha did a introduction as to what the test is about, including how the test will be like etc.

She gave out a handout with Manchester United as the discussed topic. Below were numbered questions that required us to fill in the blanks and she read out the question with a pause at the end, waiting for me to complete the sentence:

1. Manchester United is a __________________________

I casually (half asleep acutally) answered, "football team".

"Right. Hah. Football team...." she replied in a strange tone.

I looked at the second piece of paper she gave me and I immediately responded!

"Owh!! Hahahahaha"

She was actually asking whether Manchester United was a noun, pronoun, verb or adjective. LOLZ.

Football team. Priceless :p

Moral of the story, think before you answer.

Other moral of the story is that Brandon is the most awesome choreographer ever! He can even choreograph a choir!!

MKM 14th August 2009 8pm-10.30pm!!

Be there or be square!

Rescue Animals Via Entertainment

That explains the title of the event Rave 2 Save.

R2S was a PR event organized by the mass comm students in my college. It was basically a charity event, and "the core of the event lies in the desire to aid missions that provide shelter and care to unwanted and abused animals : especially the abandoned dogs in Pulau Ketam".

Since the entry ticket was only RM5, I figured, why not. Since an opportunity like this comes once in a while. I mean, how often does your college hold events such as this?

Raving and saving together with Jeslyn and Zahirah

I have to admit, my RM5 was well spent. The goodie bag itself was definitely worth more than RM10. It included a previous issue of the Face magazine, a KDU notebook, sugar body wash, one Tupperware container, a rubber wristband, and a bunch of pamphlets to go along with it. Not bad right?

They practically took over the entire first floor in KDU. Right from the auditorium to the taman, but Windows of Damansara and LTB area were left untouched. There were lots of stalls at the bazaar selling a variety of stuff, including shoes, clothes, fashion accessories, hair and facial products, and of course, food.

Clothes,

And more clothes

Yuen Yim's PR event :)

Alloy busy busy. Emcee + beatboxer of the event

They even have puppies and cats up for adoption. It is afterall, a charity event that benefits animals.

Up for adoption

Inside the auditorium, they had fashion shows, modelled by our very own KDU students. I like what they have done to the auditorium. They used alot of platforms to create a runway, and the backdrop was simple, yet amazingly striking and creative.

The runway show

Honestly, I was glad that we went at around 1pm instead of 10am. There was nothing much to do or see at the bazaar. Nothing really interested us, except for a few crazy buttons that caught our attention for a good 10 minutes. After that, everything was pretty much the same. And the food, hmm... I would rather settle for KDU food. There are a few exceptions though.

The food stalls

Pretty cupcakes! Not bad, but rather expensive..

I expected to see a big crowd, but I was disappointed from the very moment I stepped into college. Not enough publicity I guess. Some of my friends did not even know about the event.

Fortunately, things started to get a whole lot more interesting once the performance commenced. There were a lot of band performances and dance groups. I never liked live band as they tend to sound disastrous on stage. Maybe it is due to the sound system and the construction of the building that they are performing in. But last night was exceptionally good. I think it was because they managed to get really big stereos and whatnots. But nevertheless, most of the bands gave me a migrain. Noisy...

Stereo Sakit. No comment...

However, there was one band that I liked in particular. Wanted Symphony. They were good! They even did a cover of the Guns and Roses' song, Sweet Child of Mine, and they rocked it!

Wanted Symphony. Check out the backdrop. Simple yet creative

The dancers were amazing though. A lot of pumping and popping lolz. I did not like the first belly dancer. But the second one was better. Hmm it could have been the same dancer but different style, or two completely different dancers. It was too dark, and the distance I was from the stage did not help at all. Other than that, the other dancers were awesome as well. I feel bad that I missed Brandon's Jai Ho though. It must have been superb as usual :)

Urban Grooves

There were two boys that grooved to Michael Jackson's songs. They did not remind me of Michael Jackson. They reminded me more of Drake and Josh. But they were funny and good.

"Drake and Josh"

Overall, Rave 2 Save was not bad. It was a good experience. At least I can say that I have been to a big event in college before :p

Next time, I will just come for the performance though.

Ok back to real life. MKM coming up 14th August 2009!!

...

I can't help but wonder...

Will you be there to catch me when I fall?

Will you be there to pick me up when I am down?

Will you be there to hold my hand through rough winds?

I know I should not doubt, but I cannot help but wonder...

Will you?

These Three Things

Three things that sucked yesterday:

1. I had to wake up early on a Saturday -_-"

Saturdays are suppose to be the day where I can wake up as late as I want to because I do not have to rush off somewhere....

But since we have practise in the morning, well, need I say more?

2. STUPID VENDING MACHINE ATE MY MONEY!!!

Damn stupid effing machine in college gave me an invalid number!! Burn my money only!!

I bought the reload number from the stupid machine, and I could not reload because the number was invalid. I called Maxis and it turned out to be a number that someone has already used on Monday at 4pm!!

And no, there is no way I can get my money back!!

3. Money Money Money, must be funny in a rich man's world...

I took out RM100 yesterday, and now, it is all gone. Thanks to that stupid good for nothing vending machine in college....

I found RM6 in my room and it was Kautsar's. I asked if I could have it or not, and she said no.......

OMG I am just kidding Kautsar, I knew that it was yours and I do not want your money la....

Hehehe

Three things that rocked yesterday:

1. The new harmony works!!

Ms Sathya and Ms Hema likes the new harmony!! The choir is going the way I envisioned it XD

I took the risk, and so far, it seems to be working out! A lot of fine tuning to be done, but in time it will be puuurfect.

2. Surprise visit from the boys!!

After the Man U match, Jeremy, Raymond and Ah Siang decided to pay us a visit in Sterling at 10pm!

I threw my phone at Ah Siang and it hit him in the head. I have good aim :)

And yes, he totally deserved it :p

3. I love you Miss Jay!

I am sorry I could not get back to you ASAP when you messaged me.

You were the cherry on top of the icing on my ice cream yesterday :)

Future Mrs Miss Jay

Can't wait to see you again XD

Opportunities In Problems

First I was afraid, I was petrified...

Mr George screamed at us again today...

Yea my week started off great for a good six hours, but after that, everything came crashing down.

But just as Syafiq told me, and coincidentally, I read in Zan's blog that we should seek opportunities in problems.

This is a challenge. Lolz

I must be willing to take risks.

Yes, in everything we do, there are a lot of risk to it. Should we just play safe because we have a lot to lose? Or should we take the road less taken because we see an opportunity there and know that there is a pot of gold waiting at the end?

He pleaded with me saying no. But I now choose to say No to his no! Because I am willing to take the risk! I know for sure that the end result with be great if we truly believe and have the confidence to do it. As bumpy as this road may seem, I am in fact, ready.

My friends are right. This sort of opportunity comes only once. Seize it! Live it!

Learning how to lead others.

Being a leader is not easy. It is not about how smart you are, or how good you are. It does not even matter if you were the president of the english society, or have a certificate in traditional dancing (-_-") or were a national something or another. All these qualification does not make you an automatic leader.

I see this moment as a chance to lead. I am not tooting my own horn as I know I have much to learn about being a leader, so this is my training ground.

Say no to dictators! Be opened to suggestions and realise for goodness sake that there are others better than yourselves! And asking for help from those under you does not mean that you are weak!

So with every insane idea they come up with, I listen and I consider.

Its important to have people to support you :)
I love you guys. Thank you for comforting me when I was down, and helping me to make a decision.

Time spent in STE was not wasted :p

This week turned out to be fine, despite its rough start.

But there are a few things that still bother me...

People can be so so so annoying....

I am still having trust issues. All the more now since their nature has been revealed.

I miss doing the waiter thing to the siren song.

I miss Brandon implying that I am short...

I miss poking Jeslyn who is behind me during the line up.

I miss Love = tan 90... Surprisingly...

Most of all, I miss my Miss Jay...

Miss Jay, I truly from the bottom of my heart deeply sincerely am sorry...

Petronas' Secret Revealed

A little something to cheer myself up.

I had to wake up extra early today because some people (or someone) believed that we have to leave Sterling by 6.30 in the morning or we will be late for the HSE forum that we were invited to which starts at 8.30am.

Hopeful faces from KDU! Why hopeful? Because they look hopeful duh...

Yvonne, Daniel, Zul and I were the "lucky" representatives from KDU. We were invited to attend the HSE Forum by Petronas in KL Convention Centre, together with Raymond, Jeremy, Thiban, Azizan, Nordin and Khoo from Taylors. Other scholars were invited as well, but we did not know them.

The forum itself was not bad. The main topic was about health and safety. Dan and I actually managed to absorbed 50% of the stuff that was mentioned during the forum, and I actually found some of the data to be quite interesting. Who would have thought that one can die of confined space and by getting hit by moving plant. And apparently, Petronas employees have higher health risk compared to others. I might know why. I shall reveal the secret later.
And working in an oil and gas company is no joke. Very accident prone if we are not careful enough, especially when we are at construction sites or oil rigs.
Honestly, if not for STE, we would not have met the guys from Taylors, and the four of us would have literally died of boredom from the forum :p

Thiban, Raymond, Jeremy and Daniel :)

Raymond and I!! My hero who rescued me from racist, bully and mean Thiban

It was such a good thing the guys from Taylors went as well. They totally saved me from boredom. Raymond and I had a fun time calling Thiban a racist that likes to pick on indigenous people from Sabah and Sarawak.
Evil Thiban! If you tease Raymond about being from Sabah or because he is Kadazan, I shall go over to Taylors and sumpit you!! Lolz
We even compared footsize!

Thiban, Raymond and me!! Boys hav big feet!!

The forum was so boring that some of us fell asleep. Observe.

Jangan kacau ah long tido!!

Lolz it was so boring that the guys would say random things and even asked me about family planning -_-"

Even though the forum was a total snooze fest, I felt really lucky to be selected for the event. I bet it was just a random selection though. Anyway, Petronas was super duper generous! They served prawns during tea break! Do you have any idea of expensive those things are? And the hall was simply superb.

Tea break was fun because we managed to mingle with some big people from Petronas. Some of those guys in suits come over to talk to us simpleton students! Mingle mingle! We were basically in the presence of our future employees and colleagues!

Yvonne, Raymond, Daniel and Nordin. Taking pictures while the others mingle with an engineer that approached them
We came across a few scholars from other colleges. We tried being nice to them and stuff, but they were indifferent to us, so whatevuh!

I love going to KLCC, and I am not referring to the shopping mall. Walking through the halls in KLCC and the convention centre, standing outside Tower One where only Petronas workers are granted permission to enter, climbing up the stairs and using the lifts there, it really made me feel happy and excited. We are talking about my future office here! It also made me realise that I have to study really hard to be able to proudly walk into KLCC as a Petroleum Engineer XD

To save all of you from total boredom from this boring post of mine, I shall reveal why Petronas workers have higher health risks compared to workers from other places. Owh and I forgot to mention that the health risk I was referring to is not electrocution, falling from heights, explosions and what not. Believe it or not, I am actually referring to ordinary health risk such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart attacks.

Evidence A.

Pasta, lamb, rice, ayam masak merah.... Wth why is this picture vertical.. lazy to change it dy..

Petronas spoils us!! Look at the food that they are serving!! It is better than any stupid hotel food I tell you!!

And look at dessert!!

Yummy........

My favourite is the little tart thing and the cake with the strawberry on top. No matter how nice western food is, you can never go wrong with the local delicacies as well! I love nyonya kueh......

Nordin smart! Eating the cake that I like!

Dessert table!!!

As you can see, Petronas is not a miser when it comes to filling their employees' stomach. They did not even skimp on us during our STE. We were constantly filled to the brim!

Conclusion is, one of the very possible reasons as to why Petronas workers have high health risk is because Petronas spoils them too much.

5 more years and it will be my turn to be spoiled!

Oops, I mean our turn. hehehe

Future leaders of Petronas!

I Like What Ingrid Said

They took my baby away.

You have no idea how much time and effort I invested in it.

I think about it every single night. That was the one thing that kept me awake most of the time.

I was so excited about it.

I planned every single detail about it.

It was my idea. My vision. My baby. Mine!

Now they took it away and gave it to someone else.

They did not even give me a chance. I can do it, I know I can damn it!!

I can't get the sound of it out of my head.

Its haunting me, mocking me...

Perfect...

I wonder what else can go wrong...

Cause I am giving up on making passes
And I am giving up on half empty glasses
And I am giving up on greener grasses
I am giving up

The People from STE

Yvonne was right. STE was magical.

We all went there with a lot of issues with each other, and being somewhat slightly closed minded about the scholars from other colleges. There was a lot of judgement about the other groups especially on the first and second day. But as fate would have it, it did not allow such things to persist.

Time healed the wounds, first judgements were taken back, barriers were broken, new friendships were made, people were brought closer together and the idiotic sense of patriotism towards our own college was demolished as we come to realise that we are ONE PETRONAS.

I have to admit, when I discovered who my group mates were on the first day, I wished I could have changed the names and people in the list. But now, I would never ever change the order of the list in any single way.

I suppose all of our first impressions were not very good as most of us judged and assumed stuff about each other, only to be completely wrong about it towards the end. We learned a great deal about each other, and revealed things unknown to the rest of the world about ourselves. We shared in each other’s happiness and sadness, and even laughed and cried with and for one another.

We LOVE you. We FORGIVE you!

That line was first introduced to us after the XY Game that was full of betrayal and distrust. Haha we fell for the facilitator’s trap, but from there we learned that during hard and stressful times, we should stick to our moral values and promises. To ensure that we learn to love and forgive each other, and also to neutralise the almost heated debate we got into because of the game, our facilitators made us say that line to each other. From that day on, it has become the unofficial tag line of STE for our batch.

I really regretted all the judgement I had about my newfound friends from Taylors. I made unfair assumptions about them for certain reasons, but as the days went by, I started to take them all back and looked at my friends from a different perspective. Right Hadi? hehe

Before I went there, Ah Siang from Kuching (Sg Maong) was the only enemy friend I had from Taylors. Due to something stupid he said in Recom, I vowed my revenge and have been agitating him ever since. Yes, I am having a blast disturbing him on Recom, Facebook and MSN. I gave him no peace whatsoever.

We can be seen bickering throughout STE. He is not that bad. He is just one of the many people that I like to agitate. We are still friends, despite all the silly and naughty things we say about each other.

Lousy Ah Siang.... Nah nah, your smile also quite natural here! :p

The other guys from Taylors are just as swell. The following are the Taylorians from my group.

This is Raymond.

He does not look Chinese right? That is because he is Kadazan from KK! We paired up during the introduction session, and though our presentation was a complete mess slightly messy, he managed to shock the entire class and myself by telling them that I am Bidayuh Chinese without me saying anything to him in the beginning! Haha he turned out to be a Recomer that has been spying on my every word there :p

Raymond is a really nice guy. He was in my Primax team, and it was a pleasure being on the same team as him. And he looks super adorable in sarong! Hehe

This is Syafiq @ Yun.

Syafiq!! His hair is shorter and nicer now :)

There is a lot to him than meets the eye. I only started talking to him during the very last days of STE because we never really got the chance to mix around with each other. Syafiq is so sweet! And very thoughtful as well. He came over to study during the weekend, and I really wish him all the best in his A2 this November :)

During one of the classes, we played this game Why Do You Like Me. So, I "proposed" to Yun, only to have him betray me on stage with Nurul and Mariam. Hmph... Hehe

Another one of the Taylors' boys in my group is Romantic Razi!!

I look super cool in Razi's sunglasses. hehe

Razi is really sweet and super friendly. One of the few that we hung out with during first few days of STE.

He looks like some act-macho guy that does not have a sensitive side. But he made a really good first impression on all of us, and has proven to be a really caring guy.

Sorry Razi I broke our promise. Nice to meet me right? But you do not know why. Hmm... hehe

This next guy is cool as ice. Its none other than Khoo!!

Looking good with Mariam's handbag!

Khoo is a tennis player, but mostly a sailor.

The first time I saw him, I was slightly scared of him. But he turned out to be a really funny guy and yes, approachable. Khoo was one of the people that really encouraged me and gave me confidence to sing. His words were really assuring and I feel glad to have a friend like him. And I am lucky to have him as part of the Primax team :)

The next guy I shall tell you all about is a person that is very poyo, vain, noisy, naughty and hamsap.

Yes, its none other that Hadi!!

Hadi is a nice guy with a lot of opinions about things. For some reason, all the girls like to tease him and pick a fight with him. But in the end, we LOVE and FORGIVE each other. For some odd reason he likes to call me teddy bear, but Yvonne insists that I am gummy bear. Hmm... Those two belong together... Lolz

Apart from Taylors, we also had scholars from Sunway as well. We had two of them in our group.
This is Jonathan, Jon for short.

Jon is really active in class. I think he had more energy than half of us put together. He was the brains behind the whole shoelace thing during our outdoor activity, which shows that he is really creative and is willing to take risks.

He is fun to be with, and I really enjoyed being in the same team with him :)

The other guy from Sunway is Irfan.

Jatuh cinta lagi....

He looks like an insane person right? You are absolutely correct. He is insane.

He comes up, say, and does stuff that were beyond what any of us expected, and he spends RM134 per month on ... Haha despite all that, Irfan is a really nice guy. He kept apologising to me after the whole STE Idol thing because he felt so bad about what he said to me. But all is forgiven :)

Irfan, don't go speeding anymore yea! I don't like...

We also had people from Nottingham that joined us. This sweetie here is Nurul.

She looks so sweet right? Well that is because she is a sweet girl. She was one of the very few people that made me realise that I can make an impact wherever I go.

I feel bad for abusing her during our skit. Hehe omg she is so cute. Haha she and Yun came over during the weekend, and we headed to Casa to visit the others. By the way, we are scandalising the two of them together. Hehehe so cute...

Another sweetie from Nottingham is Mariam.

Mariam looks like the most fragile thing on earth. She is so skinny! But she has a great sense of fashion. Like me, she uses Ipanema! The most comfortable and affordable sandals/flip-flops on earth! Haha

She looks like a very shy person, but do not be fooled. I loved it when she was presenting. There was something very sweet in her tone of voice and of course, the way she carried herself.

In my batch, we had future economist, future accountants and future engineers. But there is this one very special scholar that stands out from the rest of us. Introducing, future doctor Seha!!

The future petroleum engineer and the future doctor!

Everyone's first impression of Seha was that she was a shy and conservative girl. But Seha proved herself wrong. She is not as shy as we all thought her to be. And the fact that she is the only person from Cyberjaya did not stop her from blending in with the rest of us.

We also had international students from UTP as well.

This is Felisberto. I call him Felis.

Felis is fun to talk to. Although he is shy, as he does not really socialise much, but he is a really great person to know. And I learn alot from him about how he copes as an international student in UTP. It was fun to have him in Primax as well.

Next is Obie.

He looks kinda scary in this picture because he does not really take pictures very often. Anyway, Obie is also one of the people in my group that has a lot of say about something. He has a lot of opinions and ideas that we all learnt from.

Apparently he has a lot of cool ideas related to his mechanical engineering field, but is afraid to reveal to anyone else because he fears that they might steal his idea. Lolz

Those people were my groupmates during STE. Rashad, Yvonne, Daniel and Siti Sarah were also in my group, and it was a pleasure to get to know them more.

I met my future classmate in STE!!!

Two future petroleum engineers!!

Thats Jeremy from Taylors. The first time I met him, I thought that he was arrogant, but he was anything but! He is a really nice and humble guy, which is one of the reasons why I really hope that we can study in the same university in the States, together with Kautsar and Thiban of course :)

This fellow is a real gentleman. When I was could hardly eat my dinner one night, he asked the staff to make porridge for supper. Isn't that sweet???

No Yvonne. You go kiss him.... Lolz

This is Juma Moses.

Moses is fun to talk to. I enjoyed talking to him about random stuff one evening. I think Yvonne can agree with me that only sweet words come out of his mouth. Hehe

There are alot of other people from STE that I am fond of. But sadly I do not think that I can fit everyone into this really long post. Quite recently, I have been mixing with the guys from Taylors two weekends in a row, thus expanding my network. Hehe

One reason STE was fun was because of the people we met there. Like I said, I woudd never ever change the list of names in that batch, not for all the money in the world.

Finally, here are random pictures of us doing silly stuff during STE:

Nordin and Raymond. Normally when people sing, they will receive flowers. But Nordin is special. He received leaves...

Hadi and Irfan : I love you.. Mariam : OMG!!!!!!!!!

Daniel, Hadi, Siti Sarah and Jon. What on earth is Jon doing? Poor Sarah...

Jump!!

Syafiq, me and Shafiq!! Confused? Haha we had 3 different Shafiqs that day

KDU performing Jatuh Cinta Lagi... malu nyer...

Thats Ozzy, my guitarist :)

One fine day, Mariam and I decided to stick tape all over Hadi. Yea I covered the butt area. Pose was Mariam's idea

Hadi handsome. I'm actually sitting on Ah Siang's legs which are hanging in midair in an unnatural position, and I'm having fun :p

No wonder it rained during STE... hehehe

Yvonne and I eating like Hadi

Nyahahah poor Yvonne

After the Mean Words game, Raymond just could not let Siti Sarah's bag go...

Si Yun Comel tgh tido. Si Mariam Pengganas. Si Hadi hamsap terkangkang

Nordin, Hadi and Jeremy

Ah Siang refuses to smile. Hadi's signature pose. Razi is too cool to comment

Razi is me! Sassy Sherene!! hehehe

OMHG poor Irfan!!!! Hadi is enjoying it though.. kekeke

King of Sabah and Queen of Sarawak unite to take down Selangor!! Smell my foot you low-life worms!!

Nap time! Ah Siang, Chad, me and Trigo from Sunway

ISN'T HE ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kept asking him to wear that everywhere he goes!

I honestly believe that whoever still thinks that STE is a waste of time is a fool.

Everything that we learn from STE was important. Right down from the therapy session to the silly XY games. But at the end of the day, its all about the people you love :)

Group 2 (Mach 5)

I LOVE you. I FORGIVE you!
