Material girl, we all know how much you just love to bitch about things and every living being. But now, its time for Miss Priss to lay down the ugly on something. So step aside and give her the limelight tonight!Zero efficiency. Even though it exist, it does so in miniscule amount.
I planned to make my passport before CNY so that I do not have to rush in my Tulsa application last minute like what happened to Texas. Randy was kind enough to offer to drive me all the way to Subang airport EARLY in the morning to get my passport done.
Our first attempt on Saturday was a bust.
Upon arriving at the airport, they told us that the immigration department was closed, and directed us to MAHSA College.
Ok, no big deal. So we made a trip to MAHSA College, and when I got to the door of the immigration office, the guard told me, "No. Close. Go to Wangsa Maju". Just my luck. The branch there was closed on the 6-7 February.
Since Randy did not know where the place was, we gave up and decided to try again on Monday in Subang.
Today, we headed out before 7.30am. So freaking early in the morning!
We arrived 10 minutes after the office opens, and guess what, the place was packed with people!
Why on earth are there so many people in a government office before 8am on a weekday?!?
I can only think of 2 reasons.
1. So typical Malaysian of all of you! You are only planning to make your passport one week before Chinese New Year? I bet they are going to fly off somewhere for a holiday. But making your passport one week before is not exactly the smartest thing to do
*coughcoughronaldtengcoughcough*. Yes, I know that you can get it done within a day. But mana tau something went wrong somewhere and
BOOM!! No passport for you and you can say bye bye to your CNY holiday trip to Macau!
2. They are also applying to University of Tulsa which requires the photostated first page of our passport.
Since the second reason does not fit these bunch, then I shall settle for the first reasoning.
Ugh. As if things were not bad enough. The office was so hot! They operated on fans, and did not even turn some of them on. The lady in front of me at the queue complained as well.
Another thing that was so vexing about my visit to the immigration department was the system. Normal offices would require you to take a number, and while waiting, fill in the forms and everything else. Immediately after that, everything can and will be done in a jiffy.
But they decided to be different. You have to fill in the forms first, wait in the unbelievable long line to get a number at the counter, then wait about an hour or so (that was how long I waited) to submit the form, and then wait some more to make payment in a
different counter.
T.T
While waiting for my turn, Randy came up with a few worst case scenarios that we could encounter that morning.
1. My MyKad's chip was spoilt. Which would require me to go all the way back to Amcorp Mall to settle the IC, and then journey back to Subang airport to wait that the long queue again to get
another number just to submit in the form again.
He came up with a few, but that was all that I could remember.
But after my return from the counter to submit in the form, I corrected Randy. There was another worst case scenario that is likely to happen.
Me, little miss SARAWAKIAN, wanting to make my passport in SELANGOR, would require me to submit in copies of my mother and father's IC as well.
Bravo!!
Kak, how come the dude at the counter issuing the tickets NEVER mentioned that to me when he was checking my forms???
There is a miscommunication somewhere. Someone got their facts wrong. Who was it? I am just not bother to know. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP.
I wasted two hours in Subang and missed my further maths class because of this. Not to mention hours of my precious sleep time WASTED! I lagi kesian Randy who has to wake up early in the morning (the first time he got a chance to witness the sun rise!) and ferry me around.
Nevertheless, I do not point all fingers to the immigration department. I would not have needed to wait that long if
everyone else did not decide to do settle their travel documents the Malaysian style. Randy went before when it was on a weekday and not around a festive season. He was the only person there. Hence, he got it done straightaway.
Plus there was something very wrong with me today. I filled in the form wrongly, TWICE in a row! I kept crossing out *saya tidak pernah memiliki pasport*....
And I wasted a good 10 minutes waiting in the wrong queue to have my picture taken.
Not to mention the fact that I am half-smiling in my picture. Something stupid and tragic happened inside that booth, and no, it shall not be revealed. I hope the Americans do not think that I am a terrorist after taking a look at my picture...

So yes. The end result is that I never got my passport done. Nevertheless, I am pretty glad that I went before CNY break. I would definitely be in a tough spot if I did it after coming back from Kuching, and to discover the incomplete documents that I needed to complete the procedure.
Plus I have to hand it to them. Being able to get the passport done within two hours, well, give them credit la.
Yes, it was an eventful day.
What was even more eventful was that I went shopping in OU with Jeslyn after class in hopes of getting a pair of shades. The irony is that I bought nothing, while she went home with a bag full of clothes and a pair of shades!
Haha sad facts of life.
