That explains the title of the event Rave 2 Save.
R2S was a PR event organized by the mass comm students in my college. It was basically a charity event, and "the core of the event lies in the desire to aid missions that provide shelter and care to unwanted and abused animals : especially the abandoned dogs in Pulau Ketam".
Since the entry ticket was only RM5, I figured, why not. Since an opportunity like this comes once in a while. I mean, how often does your college hold events such as this?
I have to admit, my RM5 was well spent. The goodie bag itself was definitely worth more than RM10. It included a previous issue of the Face magazine, a KDU notebook, sugar body wash, one Tupperware container, a rubber wristband, and a bunch of pamphlets to go along with it. Not bad right?
They practically took over the entire first floor in KDU. Right from the auditorium to the taman, but Windows of Damansara and LTB area were left untouched. There were lots of stalls at the bazaar selling a variety of stuff, including shoes, clothes, fashion accessories, hair and facial products, and of course, food.
They even have puppies and cats up for adoption. It is afterall, a charity event that benefits animals.
Inside the auditorium, they had fashion shows, modelled by our very own KDU students. I like what they have done to the auditorium. They used alot of platforms to create a runway, and the backdrop was simple, yet amazingly striking and creative.
Honestly, I was glad that we went at around 1pm instead of 10am. There was nothing much to do or see at the bazaar. Nothing really interested us, except for a few crazy buttons that caught our attention for a good 10 minutes. After that, everything was pretty much the same. And the food, hmm... I would rather settle for KDU food. There are a few exceptions though.
I expected to see a big crowd, but I was disappointed from the very moment I stepped into college. Not enough publicity I guess. Some of my friends did not even know about the event.
Fortunately, things started to get a whole lot more interesting once the performance commenced. There were a lot of band performances and dance groups. I never liked live band as they tend to sound disastrous on stage. Maybe it is due to the sound system and the construction of the building that they are performing in. But last night was exceptionally good. I think it was because they managed to get really big stereos and whatnots. But nevertheless, most of the bands gave me a migrain. Noisy...
However, there was one band that I liked in particular. Wanted Symphony. They were good! They even did a cover of the Guns and Roses' song, Sweet Child of Mine, and they rocked it!
The dancers were amazing though. A lot of pumping and popping lolz. I did not like the first belly dancer. But the second one was better. Hmm it could have been the same dancer but different style, or two completely different dancers. It was too dark, and the distance I was from the stage did not help at all. Other than that, the other dancers were awesome as well. I feel bad that I missed Brandon's Jai Ho though. It must have been superb as usual :)
There were two boys that grooved to Michael Jackson's songs. They did not remind me of Michael Jackson. They reminded me more of Drake and Josh. But they were funny and good.
Overall, Rave 2 Save was not bad. It was a good experience. At least I can say that I have been to a big event in college before :p
Next time, I will just come for the performance though.
Ok back to real life. MKM coming up 14th August 2009!!
