Petronas' Secret Revealed

A little something to cheer myself up.

I had to wake up extra early today because some people (or someone) believed that we have to leave Sterling by 6.30 in the morning or we will be late for the HSE forum that we were invited to which starts at 8.30am.

Hopeful faces from KDU! Why hopeful? Because they look hopeful duh...

Yvonne, Daniel, Zul and I were the "lucky" representatives from KDU. We were invited to attend the HSE Forum by Petronas in KL Convention Centre, together with Raymond, Jeremy, Thiban, Azizan, Nordin and Khoo from Taylors. Other scholars were invited as well, but we did not know them.

The forum itself was not bad. The main topic was about health and safety. Dan and I actually managed to absorbed 50% of the stuff that was mentioned during the forum, and I actually found some of the data to be quite interesting. Who would have thought that one can die of confined space and by getting hit by moving plant. And apparently, Petronas employees have higher health risk compared to others. I might know why. I shall reveal the secret later.
And working in an oil and gas company is no joke. Very accident prone if we are not careful enough, especially when we are at construction sites or oil rigs.
Honestly, if not for STE, we would not have met the guys from Taylors, and the four of us would have literally died of boredom from the forum :p

Thiban, Raymond, Jeremy and Daniel :)

Raymond and I!! My hero who rescued me from racist, bully and mean Thiban

It was such a good thing the guys from Taylors went as well. They totally saved me from boredom. Raymond and I had a fun time calling Thiban a racist that likes to pick on indigenous people from Sabah and Sarawak.
Evil Thiban! If you tease Raymond about being from Sabah or because he is Kadazan, I shall go over to Taylors and sumpit you!! Lolz
We even compared footsize!

Thiban, Raymond and me!! Boys hav big feet!!

The forum was so boring that some of us fell asleep. Observe.

Jangan kacau ah long tido!!

Lolz it was so boring that the guys would say random things and even asked me about family planning -_-"

Even though the forum was a total snooze fest, I felt really lucky to be selected for the event. I bet it was just a random selection though. Anyway, Petronas was super duper generous! They served prawns during tea break! Do you have any idea of expensive those things are? And the hall was simply superb.

Tea break was fun because we managed to mingle with some big people from Petronas. Some of those guys in suits come over to talk to us simpleton students! Mingle mingle! We were basically in the presence of our future employees and colleagues!

Yvonne, Raymond, Daniel and Nordin. Taking pictures while the others mingle with an engineer that approached them
We came across a few scholars from other colleges. We tried being nice to them and stuff, but they were indifferent to us, so whatevuh!

I love going to KLCC, and I am not referring to the shopping mall. Walking through the halls in KLCC and the convention centre, standing outside Tower One where only Petronas workers are granted permission to enter, climbing up the stairs and using the lifts there, it really made me feel happy and excited. We are talking about my future office here! It also made me realise that I have to study really hard to be able to proudly walk into KLCC as a Petroleum Engineer XD

To save all of you from total boredom from this boring post of mine, I shall reveal why Petronas workers have higher health risks compared to workers from other places. Owh and I forgot to mention that the health risk I was referring to is not electrocution, falling from heights, explosions and what not. Believe it or not, I am actually referring to ordinary health risk such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart attacks.

Evidence A.

Pasta, lamb, rice, ayam masak merah.... Wth why is this picture vertical.. lazy to change it dy..

Petronas spoils us!! Look at the food that they are serving!! It is better than any stupid hotel food I tell you!!

And look at dessert!!

Yummy........

My favourite is the little tart thing and the cake with the strawberry on top. No matter how nice western food is, you can never go wrong with the local delicacies as well! I love nyonya kueh......

Nordin smart! Eating the cake that I like!

Dessert table!!!

As you can see, Petronas is not a miser when it comes to filling their employees' stomach. They did not even skimp on us during our STE. We were constantly filled to the brim!

Conclusion is, one of the very possible reasons as to why Petronas workers have high health risk is because Petronas spoils them too much.

5 more years and it will be my turn to be spoiled!

Oops, I mean our turn. hehehe

Future leaders of Petronas!
